Gaya's Cakes & Confections

Can we taste your cakes prior to ordering?

Yes, every two months we offer cake tasting boxes of four flavours available to purchase for £25. These are carefully packaged and dispatched via first class post to your address allowing you to taste the cakes in the comfort of your own place in your own time. This service is complimentary for orders above £300 and will be deducted from your total price when you place your order. Please see our tasting page for more information and to place your order for a taster box.

For bespoke cakes we have found that most of the design process can be undertaken via phone or e-mail correspondence but we are more than happy to accommodate face to face meetings so please just ask if this is what you would prefer.

Do you deliver cakes and if so, what are your charges?

Yes we do deliver! Delivery is available at a cost dependent on the distance from our kitchen so please get in touch for a quote, stating your postcode. Please note, delivery arrangements must be agreed at the time of placing the order or, with at least one week’s notice. Alternatively, cakes can be collected at pre-agreed times from our kitchen in Surrey.

How should the cake be stored and served?

Prior to cake delivery / collection, buttercream covered cakes will be stored in a refrigerator to ensure safe transport. The cake then needs approximately 2-3 hours outside of the refrigerator (depending on its size) to come to room temperature. We recommend eating cakes at room temperature only, otherwise the cake will seem dry.

Leftover cake should ideally be stored in an air tight container at room temperature and consumed within five days. If the cake will not be eaten within this time period, it should ideally be refrigerated or frozen. Cakes keep well in the freezer and should be left to thaw at room temperature prior to consumption.

We recommend that cakes are sliced in a grid formation (as opposed to pizza slices!) to ensure that portions cut from varying tier sizes have uniform dimensions. Using a warm knife will help to make clean cuts - we like to dip the knife in a jug of hot water for a few seconds then wipe the knife dry prior to making a cut. Just remember to wipe the knife clean between each cut!

Can your cakes be consumed by people with food allergies? (nuts, dairy, gluten etc?)

Unfortunately all our cakes are currently made in a kitchen where there are nuts, dairy and gluten present.

How do I confirm and pay for a bespoke cake order?

Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for details on payment, cancellation and refunds.

I have a picture of a design I really like. Are you able to make something similar?

While we do not make identical versions of other cake artists' work, photos of other cake designs can be used as inspiration.

We already have dessert as part of our event's catering so are not looking to serve cake but we would like a display / dummy cake for our event. Do you offer these?

We think cake is such an important part of any celebration (yes, we may be biased!) and let's be honest, who would say no to a slice of our cake served with tea or coffee no matter how much dessert was served?! While we always recommend opting for real cake (as you are still paying to have the dummy tiers decorated without any cake to enjoy) we do accommodate requests for dummy tiers.

Do you have cake stands available for hire?

Yes we do! We have a small collection of elegant ceramic cake stands which are available to hire for a charge of £25 plus a refundable £125 security deposit to cover any damages. We ask that cake stands are returned to us within 3 working days of your event at which point the security deposit will be refunded provided there are no damages to the stand.

How much notice do I need to provide for a bespoke cake order?

While we would appreciate as much notice as possible we understand that cake emergencies can crop up! For versions of our existing cake designs, we ideally ask for at least two weeks notice but please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you, provided that we have capacity.

For completely bespoke wedding and celebration cakes, we recommend that clients get their date booked in as early as possible (ideally three months ahead) to allow us enough time to work on your design brief and ensure you are completely happy with it. In any case, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will let you know whether your order can be fulfilled with a shorter lead time.
